FORDYCE OPEN GARDEN DAY

Sunday 21 July 2024

This annual event provides a wide variety of opportunities for you to enjoy the day exploring the streets, lanes, community gardens, and woodland, while also accessing some of the wonderful private gardens around the village.

WHY NOT…

  • Listen to the Brass Band whilst checking out the vintage tractors or getting info on the Windfarm at the Green.
  • Consider a delicious afternoon tea courtesy of the Fordyce SWI, craft stalls, lucky squares, etc., in the Village Hall.
  • Sample from the BBQ (vegan & vegetarian options available) while perusing the world book stall or purchasing items from The Fordyce Bakery, Portsoy Ice Cream, or even kippers in the Jubilee Garden.
  • Discover the vintage clothes sale, raffles, and pottery/jewellery at the museum and workshop.
  • Purchase a plant and watch a demo or even try out archery at the playground.

Grab a village map and have an adventurous afternoon!

FORDYCE BOOK EXCHANGE

The Grand Opening Ceremony took place on Saturday 15 June 2024, when Sandy Stewart, a long-time resident, did the honours and cut the gold ribbon to celebrate the official opening of our book exchange.

Please feel free to look through the books and choose your latest read from our varied selection. Swap it for a book to share with your local community or make a small donation instead.

Thanks to all involved in cleaning and redecorating the previously unused telephone box and to all those who have already kindly donated so many books. Long may it continue.

WHAT’S HAPPENING

MUSEUM & WORKSHOP

We’re trying to open the museum & workshop to the public on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays (1000 - 1600/1800). Volunteers needed to cover opening hours. Please contact admin@fordycevilage.co.uk to discuss your availability. Rota on noticeboard at the workshop & on website.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Please get involved in our attempts to keep the community spirit of the area alive and kicking. The more people give a little of their time and skills means we can do more. Come along to one of the social events and find out what’s happening and share your ideas of what we can all do together to improve our quality of life.

ACTIVITIES

We’ve recently been having social evenings, an Easter Egg Hunt, a Duck Race, a BBQ, Book Group, Film Nite, Craft Group, Coffee & Company, Pilates and are planning more events in the museum/hall and gardens.
